Aurelio M. Fernandez, FACHE, has been named the new executive vice president and chief operating officer for Memorial Healthcare System.Fernandez’s previous position was as chief executive officer of Memorial Hospital Miramar. Fernandez has more than 35 years experience in healthcare and brings exceptional knowledge in the acute care setting and hospital operations in both private and public management. Prior to joining Memorial, Fernandez was with Tenet Healthcare Systems in a variety of positions, including chief executive officer for Florida Medical Center and Hialeah Hospital.
Throughout his career, Fernandez has worked in numerous leadership positions in healthcare. One of those positions was as executive director of Pal-Med Health Services. Fernandez’s career has been also centered on finances. He’s been credited for establishing automated systems that improve revenues and cash flow and for improving product lines and services in hospitals.
