In recognition of her pioneering efforts to protect both professionals and patients, West Boca Medical Center Employee Health Nurse Cathy McCulloch, R.N., recently was honored by Sanofi Pasteur, a leading pharmaceutical company, for achieving the highest influenza and DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) employee vaccination rates among South Florida hospitals.
McCullochs efforts to increase staff immunizations at the hospital include establishing a year-round educational approach for influenza vaccines and pertussis boosters, setting hospital and department goals to increase compliance, manually tracking and updating departments on their progress, educating healthcare professionals on the benefits of vaccinations and offering free on-site vaccinations.
