October 15, 2019 – Baptist Health South Florida is proud to announce the newly opened Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center in Coral Gables.
The 49,000-square-foot extension of the Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute at Doctors Hospital, 1150 Campo Sano Avenue, houses most of the Institute’s orthopedic specialties under one roof, including an ambulatory surgery center.

The multispecialty, four-story hub combines advanced technology with world-renowned orthopedic experts. The nationally recognized program has served the Miami HEAT – among many other athletic organizations – for more than 30 years.
“It’s a privilege to have the support of an NBA team to build such a technologically advanced orthopedic center. It’s a natural move after a longtime health-related association with the hometown team. Here we have the space and capability to help people from across South Florida with everything from broken bones to joint replacements. As you can imagine, we are also thrilled to practice sports medicine,” said Harlan Selesnick, M.D., orthopedic surgeon with the Institute and the Miami HEAT’s first and only team physician.

The Institute’s multidisciplinary team, led by renowned orthopedic surgeon and Chief Medical Executive, John Uribe, M.D., treats a comprehensive range of conditions, from common fractures and ligament tears to complex orthopedic injuries and chronic conditions.

The Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center also will serve as a clinical trial site for new orthopedic surgery techniques, novel implants and genetically engineered cartilage, bone and revolutionary biologics. Patients can receive comprehensive rehabilitation services at state-of-the-art outpatient facilities.

A parking garage adjacent to the Miami HEAT Sports Medicine Center provides direct access to all floors of the building. The first three floors house physician clinics with 42 exam rooms, some with extra-long exam tables designed for basketball players. The ambulatory surgery center is situated on the fourth floor.
