Coral Gables, FL – February 20, 2023 Baptist Health Orthopedic Care is now offering patients robotic assisted total hip and knee replacement with the new Zimmer Biomet ROSA®.  The system allows surgeons to plan and perform total hip and total knee replacement surgery more precisely. Charles Lawrie, M.D., orthopedic surgeon with Baptist Health Orthopedic Care, is the first physician at Baptist Health to use this technology.

“It is important to bring the latest orthopedic advancements to the South Florida community and having this system at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care will only enhance the care we provide to our patients”, said Dr. Lawrie.  “As the first surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care to use the ROSA technology, it will give our patients better outcomes, a quicker recovery, and the ability to return to their daily activities in a timely manner”.

Baptist Health Orthopedic Care is comprised of highly specialized, board-certified, and fellowship-trained orthopedic physicians, supported by advanced practice providers and athletic trainers, all of whom play a vital role in the patient experience.  Our physicians and support staff provide sports medicine services for pro-athletes, high school and collegiate athletic programs, international sporting events, recreational athletes, and the greater South Florida community.

“This technology gives our board-certified surgeons a new pathway for knee and hip replacement surgery and a more complete picture of the joints, so patients can have even better outcomes,” said Dr. John Uribe, orthopedic surgeon and chief medical executive at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.  “The ROSA® Knee System is just another example of how Baptist Health is continuing to provide some of the very best services when it comes to orthopedic care in the greater South Florida area.”
