Students who graduated from Barry Universitys School of Nursing in May 2006 had a higher pass-rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses than the state and national averages, Dean Pegge Bell, PhD, announced.

The recently-released results showed that 94 percent of BUs students were successful on the board exams. The National Council State Board of Nursing reported the national pass rate as 89 percent and the states pass rate as 86 percent.
“This accomplishment by our students continues our tradition of excellence,” said Linda Perkel, PhD, associate dean of Barrys undergraduate nursing program. “There is a direct relationship between the success of our students on their RN licensure exam and our contribution to the health and well-being of our community. Our graduates will help reduce the shortage of nurses in our community. Our graduates, who live in and represent the many cultures of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, will provide high quality care to our citizens. These new graduates add to the pool of Barry University School of Nursing alumni who serve as role models for our exemplary nursing program.
