Doctors at Bethesda Heart Hospital announced that they are the first in Palm Beach County to offer patients the new sutureless Perceval valve for aortic valve replacements (AVR). Perceval is a surgical, biological valve that is designed with a self-anchoring frame, enabling surgeons to replace the native, diseased valve suture-free.
“With more than 60,000 surgical aortic valve replacement procedures every year in the U.S., we are faced with a challenge to better treat patients with a simplified procedure approach with superior patient outcomes,” said Juan Montoya, M.D., who led the breakthrough cardiovascular surgery at Bethesda Heart Hospital today. “As a new option for surgical aortic valve replacement, the Perceval sutureless valve helps reduce the complexity of an aortic valve replacement procedure by optimizing the speed and efficiency of the operation.“
