Volunteers like Eleanor Simon are a dream come true. “Elly,” as she is affectionately called, has donated countless hours to Boca Raton Community Hospital over the last 20 years. She began her volunteer career taking a gift shop cart throughout eight floors of patient rooms. For the last eight years, Elly has been taking care of patients and their families who visit the hospital’s endoscopy department for procedures.

Putting her previous 30 years of experience at IBM to use, Elly submits an IBM grant form each year to generate a donation to the Boca Raton Community Hospital Foundation. Elly recently presented another $1,000 donation to the Foundation. She requests that these funds be directed to endoscopy department education.

“There are many retired IBM employees in the area who can take advantage of grants like this. I hope that everyone who is eligible applies, and I really appreciate the generosity of IBM in supporting such a wonderful charity,” said Elly.
