The Department of Learnings Continuing Medical Education Program has made significant strides in satisfying the continuing education needs of Broward Health physicians. CME (Continuing Medical Education) can be a costly and time consuming affair for physicians. They are at the mercy of high program fees and potential scheduling nightmares. Broward Healths Department of Learning has removed these obstacles with the advances in their CME Program. “By offering an effective, on-site CME Program, we help ensure that our physicians are able to treat their patients with best practices year after year,” says Jean Seaver, Director of the Department of Learning for Broward Health.
Under the guidance of Jean Seaver and Laura Swaney, Broward Health CME Coordinator, CME began its facelift. New changes to the established program include interactive audience response hand-held keypads and vodcasted CME. Using the keypads, physicians remain engaged and have an opportunity to actively participate in the CME activity. They can interact anonymously with the speaker during the program. This enhancement also provides direct learner feedback which only sharpens the CME activity which now is driven by leaner needs. Broward Health physicians may also take CME online through the Physician Portal. There is a library of previously, presented CME that have been vodcasted for future viewing. Physicians no longer have to worry about missing a CME that they wanted to attend due to scheduling conflicts or patient care issues. The taped CME can be viewed on the Portal anytime, anyplace that is conducive for their schedule. CME is always free for all Broward Health physicians. In addition to topics on various needs, mandatory CME are provided annually to keep physicians up to date on license renewal requirements. Staying on the cutting edge of CME has become an integral goal of Broward Health. Though CME may be just a small part in the web of providing quality healthcare, it is momentous none the same. Broward Health continues to build on their sound CME foundation while constantly looking for ways to grow and improve.
