The Broward Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of Broward Health, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Daniel Westphal, M.D., senior vice president and chief medical officer for Broward Health, to its board of directors.

Prior to joining Broward Health, Dr. Westphal served in a number of executive positions at local hospitals, including Director of Medical Affairs at Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Chief Medical Officer at Florida Medical Center, and Chief Medical Officer at Broward Health North.
Dr. Westphal is Associate Clinical Professor at Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt School of Medicine in Boca Raton. He is also Chairman of the American Board of Medical Quality and this year was inducted as a fellow of the American College of Medical Quality.
“Physician support will play a critical role in the growth of the Broward Health Foundation moving forward,” said Nathan Landsbaum, chairman of the Foundation board of directors and chief operating office at Sunshine State Health Plan. “Dr. Westphal joins a dedicated board of strong business leaders who are committed to making our community a healthier place to live.”

Dr. Westphal is a graduate of University of Kansas School of Medicine and was a medical resident at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. He served as a clinical and research fellow in pulmonary medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University. He also received his Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University where he graduated with honors.
