American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recognizes
all four Broward Health hospitals with Plus awards.
July 31 2020 – Three Broward Health hospitals have received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospitals’ commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach and Broward Health Coral Springs earned Gold Plus awards. Broward Health Medical Center was also recognized for a Stroke Award Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll and Stroke Award Target Stroke Elite Honor Roll. Additionally, Broward Health North received a Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus award. Broward Health Imperial Point in Fort Lauderdale earned a Silver Plus recognition for 2020 for improving patient care and outcomes for stroke patients.
“Broward Health patients have the benefit of a 24/7 Brain Attack Team (BAT), designated stroke units and the passionate care from our multidisciplinary teams,” Andrew Ta, Chief Medical Officer at Broward Health. “The ‘Get With The Guidelines’ distinction underscores the incredible dedication by our caregivers to providing high-quality stroke care for our community.”
The hospitals obtained these endorsements by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These standards include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the most current, evidence-based guidelines to speed recovery, and reduce death and disability for stroke patients.
