Maria Oliff, R.N., started working at Broward Health’s flagship hospital when she was 17 years of age as a certified nursing assistant, (CNA). Oliff’s desire to work in the medical field began in high school when she took health occupation classes.
She was inspired to get into cardiology after her father needed open heart surgery which became the catalyst for a lifelong commitment to cardiology.
“That’s when my passion for knowledge in cardiology began,” Oliff said.
She has now worked in the Cath lab for 20 years and serves as the charge nurse at the 723-bed hospital. She ensures smooth operations and coordination of scheduled cases.
“Helping our patients feel better is the best gratification, especially in emergent situations when the patients are in critical condition,” Oliff said.
Oliff completed her LPN at Sheraton Vocational College. She earned her associate degree in nursing at Broward Community College.
