Broward Health North Broward Medical Center (NBMC) has won the 2011 Celebration of Achievement in Quality Service Award. The award is for Innovation of the Year in Patient Care. Presented by the Florida Hospital Association (FHA), this award recognizes NBMC’s award-winning joint replacement program.
The Joint Replacement Center at NBMC features advanced technology, private rooms and is staffed by a specially trained, experienced multidisciplinary team to care for joint replacement patients. The program leads patients through the entire surgical process, from coaches attending pre-operative classes with patients, to a revised approach to pain management that minimizes post-operative nausea and facilitates participation in group activities and therapy to encourage health and wellness, promoting a speedy recovery. As a result, NBMC’s customer service scores are in the 80th percentile and length of stay for each procedure has decreased to 2.8 days for anterior hip replacements, four days for conventional hip replacements and 3.1 days for total knee replacements.
