Broward Health, on behalf of Region VII Health and Medical Committee, has been awarded a Healthcare Facilities Partnership Grant by the Human Health & Services Office of Public Health and Science. The award in the amount of $426,000 is for the purposes of implementing an Information Technology (IT) solution for managing critical incidents and serve as the coordinator with medical, emergency medical and hospital assets within Region VII.
The Critical Incident Management Solutions for Healthcare program will provide an integral component in managing the redistribution of personnel, facilities, equipment, and supplies. Medical systems struggle with preparedness, response capabilities and surge capacity. The program will help by accurately tracking patients and resources with communication systems. This is a critical component which benefits the overall community by supporting healthcare preparedness, response, and recovery during public health emergencies. The grant will provide Broward Health facilities and other hospitals and emergency response partners in Region VII the installation and utilization of the CommandAware Software program. The program provides support at every phase of the disaster management cycle: prepare, respond, recover and mitigate. The systems will also ensure that emergency/disaster best practices and critical information is incorporated into a hospitals incident management system.
