Calvin Glidewell has been named Chief Executive Officer of Broward General Medical Center and Chris Evert Children’s Hospital.Glidewell has served as CEO of Imperial Point Medical Center since joining Broward Health in 2007. While there he expanded services, added robotic surgery and interventional radiology, and opened a new $18 million emergency department and a new outpatient surgery center.
Prior to joining Broward Health, Glidewell spent 16 years with the not-for-profit University Community Health System in Tampa. He served as CEO of University Community Hospital-Medical Center, its flagship 475-bed hospital, and University Community Hospital-Carrollwood. His early career in healthcare included marketing, strategic planning and system development at hospitals in Tampa, Annapolis and Jacksonville.
Glidewell received his undergraduate degree with honors from Vanderbilt University and holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University.
He is the current board chair of the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a member of the Fort Lauderdale Executive’s Association and sits on the board of directors for the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce.
