Joel Gellman, M.D., FACC, a Broward Health Physician Group cardiologist since 2010, is board certified in five specialties: cardiovascular disease, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, internal medicine, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

“My dad suffered from coronary artery disease for as long as I remember,” said Dr. Gellman. “I became a cardiologist to treat people like him. I am blessed to practice both general and advanced heart failure cardiology, treating the sickest people as well as preventing serious cardiovascular disease in healthier people, and helping my patients live long, healthy lives.”

The first board-certified advanced heart failure cardiologist in Broward County, Dr. Gellman completed fellowships in cardiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in internal medicine at Harvard University and cardiovascular research at Yale University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and graduated with a medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has been honored by the American College of Cardiology with the prestigious Merck Fellowship and the Centocor Career Development Award.
