Cleveland Clinic in Florida announces the addition of two physicians. The new staff physicians include dermatologist Asfa S. Akhtar, D.O., specializing in acne, skin of color, facial rejuvenation, and laser surgery treatment, and endocrinologist Pascual DeSantis, M.D., specializing in diabetes and pituitary, adrenal, parathyroid and thyroid disorders.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Akhtar completed her dermatology residency at Broward General Medical Center. She earned her bachelors degree in biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, before receiving her doctorate of osteopathic medicine with honors at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Akhtar completed her internship and family medicine residency at Palmetto General Hospital in Miami.
Dr. DeSantis was previously a clinical research associate with Schering Plough Research Institute-Latin America and Far East in Caracas, Venezuela. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. DeSantis is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and Endocrine Society.
