On Thursday, February 12, Codina Partners, Link Construction Group and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) held a special topping off ceremony to mark the completion of the shell construction phase of Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School (DDCES), which is part of a 120-acre, mixed-used downtown for the City of Doral that is master developed by Codina Partners.

Downtown Doral Charter Elementary School is projected to open in fall of 2015 and will accommodate over 800 students from Pre-K through fifth grade. DDCES will offer a special bilingual language program with 60 percent of the classes taught in English and 40 percent in either Spanish or Portuguese.

“Our mission is to provide our students with a comprehensive dual curriculum, a bicultural and bilingual education through an innovative language program,” said Jeannette Acevedo-Isenberg, Head of School of DDCES. Acevedo-Isenberg has more than 20 years of experience working for Miami-Dade Schools and will oversee all aspects of the school’s operations.

The school will mostly serve the residents of Downtown Doral, which is destined to become the heart of the City of Doral. In addition to the elementary school, the mixed-use development includes over 2,840 residential units, 180,000 square feet of retail, more than one million square feet of commercial space (partially completed and occupied), as well as a public park and outdoor recreation facility adjacent to the Doral Government Center built by Codina Partners on land donated by the company.

“Link is extremely proud to have been the builder of this signature school.” Said Guillermo Fernandez, President of Link Construction Group.
