To better serve the community and surpass the needs of its patients, physicians, and employees, Columbia Hospital is excited to announce a multi-million dollar expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department.
Plans include increasing the size and number of exam rooms, providing a secure and confidential admissions area for behavioral health patients and their families, efficiently designed nursing stations, and expanded storage area for equipment and supplies. The renovations will result in increased privacy, security, patient confidentiality, and efficiency from the moment the patient arrives in the ER until discharge or admission to the hospital. Construction will be done in phases to avoid any interference in the 24-hour, seven day a week operation of the Emergency Department. The first phase will begin in January 2009. Expected completion is the end of 2009.
