Delray Medical Center announced that Amy Thoman, a system administrator for surgical services at the hospital, has been inducted into the Tenet Heroes Hall of Fame.

As a system administrator for surgical services, Thoman continually works to ensure her primary “customer,” the surgeon, is always satisfied. She has focused the operating room scheduling office to meet the needs of the surgeons and its patients by using creative and innovative approaches.

In one such example, Thoman identified an opportunity to cater to an unusual market. She became certified as a laser safety officer and partnered with a plastic surgeon on staff at the hospital to remove gang tattoos and holocaust branding. This service has not only provided closure to patients but has added to the surgeon’s bottom line.
