Participants from various disciplines, including pain medicine, anesthesiology, physical therapy and rehabilitation, neurosurgery, orthopedics and oncology will gather to discuss the new developments in basic research and pain treatment techniques. During the World Congress, the World Institute of Pain (WIP), the European Federation of IASP Chapters (EFIC), the World Society of Pain Clinicians (WSPC) and the World Institute of Pain Foundation will also unite to sign a declaration for better pain treatment and pain medicine around the world.
As an interventional pain physician for more than 20 years in South Florida, Dr. Fox has witnessed – and participated in – the evolution of pain management. Since the first World Congress in Eilat, Israel in 1998, he and a committed group of doctors have traveled to Istanbul, Turkey; Barcelona, Spain; Budapest, Hungary; and New York, NY to study new techniques and learn from each other.
“This significant event will bring some of the greatest medical minds to South Florida, with the common goal of providing patients with the most advanced and effective care possible,” said Dr. Fox.
In addition to serving as Chair of the host committee, Dr. Fox, who earned his certification to become a Fellow International Pain Practitioner (FIPP), is an examiner for the exclusive World Institute of Pain. He is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the World Institute of Pain Executive Board. He maintains board certifications with the American Board of Pain Medicine (DABPM), the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP), and the American Board of Anesthesiology with added certification in Pain Management. In addition, he is a frequent presenter and travels internationally to learn about cutting-edge techniques in interventional pain management.
