Colorectal surgeon, Dr. Hayder Al-Azzawi, hit a major milestone by completing his 1,000th robotic surgery case at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Dr. Al-Azzawi performs robotic-assisted colorectal procedures at Good Sam, using the da Vinci XI Surgical System by Intuitive. In addition, Dr. Al-Azzawi performs robotic-assisted colorectal procedures at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

“I am honored to be able to perform these robotic surgeries in our community which most importantly helps the patients I treat to some of the very best care right here in Palm Beach County,” said Dr. Al-Azzawi. “Because of the efficiency and quality of robotic surgery, it allows patients to recover quicker, with less scaring and better outcomes than ever before.”

The da Vinci allows doctors high imaging views in 3D, which is magnified more than 10 times to what the human eye can see. The robot also allows the doctors to use instruments giving the surgeon a far greater range of motion with smoother precision and accuracy for the patient.
