June 21, 2022 – HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital is the first in the Treasure Coast to Offer Aquablation Therapy, a new, minimally Invasive, Robotic Treatment for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

BPH, or an enlarged prostate, is a non-cancerous condition where the prostate has grown to be larger than normal. Statistics show 1 in 2 men over the age of 50 have BPH, and the incidence increases every decade of life. If left untreated, BPH can cause significant health problems, including irreversible bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones, and incontinence.

Aquablation therapy is a different type of treatment for BPH. It’s an advanced, minimally invasive treatment that uses the power of water delivered with robotic precision to provide long-lasting symptom relief. The treatment has low rates of irreversible complications with sexual function and incontinence.

“We are proud to be the first in the Treasure Coast to offer a solution for men with BPH,” said HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital CEO Jay Finnegan. “Aquablation therapy is the next step to furthering our commitment to advanced technology and men’s health.”

Aquablation therapy combines real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotic technology, and heat- free waterjet ablation technology for targeted, controlled,

and immediate removal of prostate tissue.
