A clinical rotation in the emergency room while in nursing school inspired Elizabeth Thompson to pursue a career in emergency nursing. She was drawn to the fast-paced environment, the variety of patient conditions, and the process of piecing together symptoms and test results to reach a diagnosis.
Now a registered nurse specializing in critical care, Thompson has 10 years of nursing experience and has been with Broward Health for the past year and a half.
“My daily motivation is knowing that I have an impact on people’s lives,” she said. “I provide immediate care and comfort in critical situations.”
In her role, she assesses and stabilizes patients with acute conditions, collaborates with fellow clinicians, monitors patient progress, documents assessments and procedures, and provides emotional support to patients and families.
Originally from Central Florida, Thompson moved to South Florida to attend Barry University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
