Jheanelle McKay, M.D., is Chief and Medical Director of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Originally from Jamaica, she knew from a young age she wanted to become a pediatrician equipped to handle even the most challenging medical situations.

Board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Dr. McKay completed her residency and fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Since joining Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, she has been recognized as Pediatric Resident Teacher of the Year.

In the emergency department, Dr. McKay is known for her calm, disciplined and team-focused approach to care, prioritizing both critically ill children and the families beside them.

“Some of the most meaningful moments in my career have come from heartfelt hugs from mothers during some of the scariest moments of their lives,” she said. Outside of work, her daughters inspire her daily to lead by example.
