June 25, 2019 – Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) is pleased to announce that Medical Oncologist/Hematologist, Susmitha Apuri, MD will be joining the statewide practice on July 1, 2019, and will be seeing patients in Inverness, (2231 Highway 44 West, Unit 203).
FCS CEO, Brad Prechtl, MBA said, “Dr. Apuri brings much needed expertise in medical oncology and hematology to the central Florida community of Inverness. We are pleased to have her join the FCS family.”

Board certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine, Dr. Susmitha Apuri earned her medical degree from NTR University of Health Sciences in Vijayawada, India. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and her fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of South Florida/H. Lee Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Her research and practice interests include breast, lung and colorectal malignancies, malignant as well as non-malignant hematology.
 
Actively engaged in clinical trials, Dr. Apuri also served as a principal investigator in clinical trials involving advanced melanoma, breast cancer, and peripheral T-cell lymphoma. She was an Assistant Professor at Moffitt Cancer Center/University of South Florida and has been a co-investigator for multiple clinical trials.
 
Published in several peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Apuri has also co-authored various book chapters. Her research was presented at multiple national conferences, including The American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Society of Hematologic Oncology, and the Miami Breast Cancer Conference. She is fluent in Telugu and Hindi.
