The Florida Department of Health Injury Prevention Section, in partnership with the Florida Injury Prevention Advisory Council (FIPAC), announces Patricia M. Byers, M.D., FACS as the 2014 Injury Prevention Award recipient.
 
Dr. Byers is the principal investigator for the Motorcycle Education and Injury Prevention Program: Survive the Ride. She has over 30 years of experience as a trauma surgeon and serves as the Trauma Medical Director and as the Chief of Surgical Nutrition at Jackson Memorial Hospital South.
 
Dr. Byers is also a professor of surgery at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine and is a faculty member in the Division of Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. She has served as both the Florida State Trauma Medical Director and as Chairperson of the American College of Surgeons Florida Committee on Trauma.
