As the oldest still-standing hospital in Palm Beach County, Good Samaritan Medical Center recently hit a major milestone. Employees, physicians and volunteers celebrated 95 years of service to the community by hosting a tailgate party, which also commemorated the kickoff of football season. Guests sported their favorite jersey while enjoying a BBQ lunch in the hospital’s atrium.Since its opening in 1920, Good Samaritan Medical Center has grown from a 35-bed, single room emergency room to a 333-bed hospital that includes five floors, a 22-bay emergency department, a Primary Stroke Center, a certified community Cancer Institute and a Comprehensive Breast Institute, which is certified by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers. The hospital is also an accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care due to the processes it has in place to rapidly assess, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack.
Within the last five years, Good Samaritan opened a cutting-edge Electrophysiology Lab, the Digestive Disease Institute, and also launched the MyNewSelf Surgical Weight Loss Program. Additionally, the Comprehensive Breast Institute began offering 3D mammography, and five imaging locations were built around the area. With these developments, the hospital continues to fulfill its mission of offering high-quality care to northern Palm Beach County.
