Once again, salons throughout Broward County will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by encouraging their clients to wear a pink hair extension. It is all part of Gilda’s Club 5th Annual Hair Because We Care initiative during the month of October to raise awareness across the community. Over 60 salons in Broward county are participating this year by attaching a pink hair extension in their client’s hair for a $20 donation.
All proceeds from Hair Because We Care support Gilda’s Club programs for men, women, and children touched by cancer. Last year’s initiative raised over $20,000.
The concept originated with Nina Havlick, a stylist with The Elite Group, located in Fort Lauderdale, who helped get this unforgettable initiative up and running. Each year, more and more salons get involved which generates more attention for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
