More than 40 community service events from Jacksonville to Tallahassee to Miami organized by hospital teams

September 16, 2022 — HCA Florida Healthcare, the state’s largest network of hospitals and healthcare facilities, will host its first statewide We Show Up for Our Communities Week, from September 19-25. Many of the organization’s colleagues will volunteer and support multiple nonprofit organizations throughout the week of events.

“We want to care for the communities we serve the same way we care for our patients – like they are our own family,” said Joe Flynn, AVP of community engagement for HCA Healthcare and president of HCA Healthcare Hope Fund. “As Florida’s largest healthcare network, part of our mission is to provide for the care and improvement of human life, and this coordinated effort is another step toward fulfilling that mission. This statewide event is another demonstration of the many ways our teams give back and support over 500 charities in Florida communities throughout the year.”

HCA Florida Healthcare colleagues will come together to show up for our communities in a variety of ways, including:

  • Supporting literacy in local communities by partnering with United Way to hold book drives and read to children through their Reading Pals program.
  • Collecting school supplies to ensure teachers and students have the items they need to succeed this upcoming school year.
  • Hosting collection drives for supplies such as toiletries and household supplies to assist victims of domestic violence and the homeless population in our communities.
  • Working with various food pantries to ensure our communities have access to the food they need.
  • Volunteering with Be the Match to educate the public and support registration of organ, blood and tissue donors.
  • Partnering with United Way and Seamark Ranch to clean up public areas and install a new trail at one local park.

HCA Florida Healthcare is committed to creating healthier tomorrows for communities across the state through volunteering time, making charitable donations and partnering with other organizations. In 2021, HCA Florida Healthcare supported more than 500 organizations through more than $1 million in donations and roughly 5,500 volunteer hours.
