March 6, 2022 – HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, a 207-bed acute care facility located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, has received approval for their proposal in expanding St. Lucie’s North Tower. Planning will begin immediately for the $72 million-dollar multi-year construction project.

The North Tower currently consists of three floors. The addition will include a new fourth floor 34-bed medical/surgical unit, and a new fifth floor will offer an expansion of maternity services, including new facilities for labor and delivery patients and additional beds for initiation of neonatal intensive care services. Both floors will connect to the South Tower. Additional construction for more parking is also planned.

“This expansion is attributable to the tremendous growth in our community and demand for medical and surgical services at St. Lucie” said Jay Finnegan, chief executive officer of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. “Our colleagues’ dedication to providing our patients with excellent care, combined with these new resources, will assure that our hospital will remain our community’s first choice for healthcare.”

The hospital campus will see additional growth and expansion in the coming years with the anticipated completion of the $8 million-dollar behavioral health unit renovation in August – adding 16 beds – and the new $36 million-dollar medical office building scheduled to break ground later this month on Tiffany Avenue.
