March 7, 2023 – Jay Finnegan is retiring as chief executive officer (CEO) of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, a 207-bed acute care facility located in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Mr. Finnegan plans to retire in April after more than 40 years in healthcare – the past nine being at St. Lucie. “Jay has consistently elevated our culture, enhanced our patient experience, improved quality outcomes and continued to grow our programs and services during his leadership” said Charles Gressle, division president of HCA East Florida Division.

During Mr. Finnegan’s time as CEO, HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital has been among the top performers in patient experience throughout HCA Healthcare. The facility has also seen increases in colleague engagement and nurse retention, and a decrease in turnover. As a result, the hospital has experienced top-ranked quality outcomes, including an “A” for patient safety by the Leapfrog Group for the last four consecutive surveys and eight of the previous nine rating periods.

Mr. Finnegan has also been an active member in the community, serving on the boards of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce and Florida State University – Treasure Coast Medical School. Before his current role, he served in various leadership roles within HCA Healthcare and the healthcare industry throughout Nevada, Washington, Pennsylvania, Mississippi and Florida.
