February 17, 2021 – HCA Florida University Hospital, a 165-bed facility and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, today announced its updated visitation policy as a result of falling COVID cases.

Patients are now able to receive two adult visitors at a time between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. All visitors must read, acknowledge understanding, and attest that they meet COVID-19 screening criteria prior to being granted entry to our facility. Visitors who do not meet screening criteria will be asked to defer their visit. Visitation remains restricted for COVID-positive patients or patients under investigation for COVID. Limited exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

“We’ve been navigating COVID for two years, and for the first time, we currently have less than five positive patients at our facility,” said HCA Florida University Hospital CEO Madeline Nava. “We’ve been patiently waiting for the pandemic to get to this point. There’s substantial research that links visitation with positive patient outcomes, so we’re delighted to provide that for our patients and their families. We’re also looking forward to resuming our in-person tours for the community, especially our labor and delivery patients.”

All hospital visitors are still required to wear a mask and are encouraged to continue use of programs like FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp, Skype, etc., to supplement in-person visits.

HCA Florida University Hospital is a 330,000-square-foot facility located adjacent to the Nova Southeastern University campus in Davie.
