Saturday, September 21st was a big day at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Miami. Over 60 vendors and healthcare providers were on hand to celebrate the culmination of a week of activities in recognition of National Rehabilitation Week. HealthSouth Miami joined rehabilitation hospitals across the nation to celebrate and recognize the hard work and dedication of rehabilitation caregivers including therapists, physicians, nurses, case managers, and the support staff who help patients and families in need of rehabilitation services.
Every year HealthSouth Miami Hospital unveils the Success Stories of patients who have overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles to relearn to walk, speak and return to work and to their lives. These stories line the walls of our hospital as a reminder that HealthSouth is a place for hope and healing.
Over 400 attendees were able to receive multiple health screenings, heart healthy cooking demonstrations, community partner education and give-a-ways, performances by local schools and much more. The featured speaker, Hector Picard, bi-lateral amputee, tri-athlete and former HealthSouth patient spoke to the crowd about perseverance and courage. The Heroines choir, consisting of breast cancer survivors also performed. An entire section was dedicated to children with a bounce house and pony rides.
