Dr. Alfonso Icochea, pulmonologist, intensivist, and internist, achieves top recognition from Hialeah Hospital as the 2013 Physician of the Year. Dr. Icochea exemplifies Hialeah Hospital’s mission statement, which is to provide safety, comfort and excellence in customer service. Dr. Icochea was nominated and selected by the hospital employees for this year’s award.Dr. Alfonso Icochea graduated from the Universidad Nacional Mayor De San Marcos, Falcultad De Medicina in Peru in 1973. He completed his pulmonary medicine training in Saint Louis, Missouri at Washington University and completed his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1976. He has been actively specializing in internal medicine for the last 36 years. Dr. Icochea is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pulmonary Disease. He was previously awarded Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors™ for 2012.
