For more than 20 years, Copyright Centers of America has been providing copying, printing, finishing and design services to Broward County customers. Known for both its knowledgeable staff and advanced technology, the business located in Fort Lauderdale serves a wide array of clients, including healthcare facilities and medical professionals.

“We are an all-service imaging provider that excels in creating high-end quality work very fast,” explained owner Abel Mallo of the company that’s been in business since 1985. “We work for advertising agencies, educational institutions, some service business companies and of course, those in the healthcare field.”

As one of only three companies authorized by the state of Florida to print prescription Medicare and Medicaid forms, Copyright does a lot of form work, though they are probably best known by the medical community for preparing high-end, color marketing presentations. “We concentrate very much on the craftsmanship end of the business,” said Mallo, who adds that other copy companies often refer clients to them.

“If you think of Kinko’s as the Walmart of the industry, we are more of a Bloomingdale’s,” he added. “People come to us when they want to make an impression with their business presentation materials.”

According to Mallo, Copyright’s success in this area can be attributed to having the latest, most technologically advanced equipment, and a very knowledgeable staff. “We may not always have the ‘first’ new machine in the area, but we are usually the first to be able to bring it to the public for use,” he explained. “The IRS or the state of Florida might be the first to get a new machine, but we will be the first to make it available to customers at a service facility.”

“It’s the same with knowledge,” he added. “A lot of companies might have an incredibly knowledgeable staff within their buildings, but we make this knowledge available to the public. I would say in our single facility, we have more knowledge about this industry than you’ll find in 50 Kinko’s combined.”

Copyright has also made it their goal to make clients’ interactions with the company as seamless as possible. “We have a private page on our web site where clients can submit their jobs directly to us,” said Mallo. “Our clients love it because it’s very quick and easy—it’s a very efficient way to transfer files. It’s far better than email, because they don’t have to worry about viruses or file corruption, and there is no limit on the size of files that they can send.”

Once clients have been set up within the system, they can take advantage of any of Copyright’s services, simply by linking through the Web. This service also enables Copyright to provide electronic document management services (EDMS) to the customer, who can then refer to documents in the Copyright archives by number. “It’s even easier to use than the telephone,” said Mallo. “EDMS allows us to become a virtual extension of a client’s desktop.”

In addition to the services most often used by medical professionals, Copyright also has some specialized services, like reprographics, used by the construction and engineering industries. Reprographics is the reproduction of graphics, often in a large-scale format. “We also provide more types and sizes of lamination services than anyone in Broward County,” said Mallo.

As for the future, Mallo says that the company’s goal is to continue to provide clients with the high quality products and fast service that they’ve come to expect. “We will keep shifting with the market in terms of technology, and continue to upgrade our equipment,” he said. “And as always, we will continue to facilitate our customers’ needs with high-end products.”
