December 8, 2022 – Holy Cross Health in Fort Lauderdale has been named to Newsweek’s 2022 list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers.

Presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, this prestigious award highlights the nation’s top inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) based on quality of care, quality of service, quality of follow-up care and accommodation and amenities. Facilities in the 25 states with the highest number of inpatient rehabilitation facilities, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, were part of this study. The rankings feature the top 255 centers nationwide.

“This outstanding recognition is a credit to the professional team of dedicated therapists and nurses, many of whom are Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurses, who focus treatment on each individual patient’s plan of care and rehabilitation goals with compassion each and every day,” Holy Cross President and CEO Mark Doyle said. “We offer one-on-one individualized physical therapy through a comprehensive continuum of care to meet patients’ rehabilitation needs with locations that near where they live and work.”

The evaluation process for America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers was comprised of five steps:

Recommendations from peers: Thousands of medical experts (physicians, therapists, medical doctors, administration and staff working in physical rehabilitation facilities) were invited to an online peer-to-peer survey.

Quality Score: Participants were also asked to rank the quality of care, quality of service, quality of follow-up care and accommodations and amenities.

KPI Data Scores: The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services publishes KPI data for physical rehabilitation centers. The KPI data includes 15 different measures.

The Model Systems and CARF Accreditations: Facilities with these accreditations received a bonus to their overall score.

The Holy Cross multidisciplinary rehabilitation program encompasses acute medical and post-surgical therapy, acute inpatient rehabilitation, home health services and outpatient rehabilitation. This continuum of care provides convenience in service delivery to patients. The 48-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation unit is located at the hospital, 4725 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, and Holy Cross Outpatient Rehabilitation Services are available in seven locations.
