Holy Cross Hospital is nearing completion of renovations to the facility that is being transformed into the new Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross Healthplex in Fort Lauderdale. A grand opening celebration, which will include a free health fair for the community, is planned for October 23.

The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center will feature a dedicated entrance and welcome area, educational and community rooms, a chapel, cuisine center, counseling rooms, a women’s boutique, gift shop, doctors’ offices, and a computer and library research center.The $15 million project is funded entirely through philanthropy, including $5 million in donations from the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation and more than 85 pledges for $5,000 from “Girlfriends,” women in the community who each made a pledge as lifelong members of the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.
The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center is going beyond obstetrics and gynecology to include healthcare for conditions that exist only in women, are more common in women, or are biologically different in women. The Women’s Center will transform the traditional 35-day wait from suspicious mammogram to surgery by providing immediate diagnosis and treatment and offering same-day comprehensive services.
Stiles Construction is serving as general contractor for the 55,000 square-foot project. Gresham Smith is the architect and SSR is the engineering firm.
