Hospice by the Sea, Inc. has opened its newest care center within the John Knox Village Retirement Community, expanding services to residents of central Broward County. Various dignitaries from John Knox Village, officials from the City of Pompano Beach and the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce recently joined Hospice by the Sea’s Board Directors, staff and volunteers at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new six bed facility.
The Hospice by the Sea Care Center at John Knox Village is a warm and welcoming place for family and friends to spend quality, peaceful time with a love one receiving hospice care. Each of the private rooms at the care center is private and furnished to comfortably accommodate visiting family members and loved ones 24-hours per day. Many rooms feature an outdoor patio to allow enjoyment of the lush garden setting. A large family room offers visitors all the amenities of home including a large screen television, refrigerator and microwave. Wi-Fi service throughout the care center affords easy access to the internet.
“It’s a great resource for the entire community,” said Mayor Lamar Fisher who was joined by Vice-Mayor, George Brummer at the podium.
The new care center affords patients coping with a life limiting illness specialized medical care, pain and symptom management, and emotional and spiritual support delivered by an interdisciplinary team of highly experienced physicians, nurses, social workers and spiritual counselors. Hospice by the Sea operates two (2) other care centers located in Memorial Regional Hospital South and in Boca Raton.For eligible patients, hospice care is fully paid for by Medicare/Medicaid; however, hospice care is also covered by most private insurance companies, HMOs, or other managed care organizations.
