On a perfect summer evening, Hospice by the Sea, Inc. (HBTS) celebrated the compassionate care that its staff has provided over the past 35 years to patients and families throughout Palm Beach and Broward Counties. More than two-hundred employees attended the event as well as retirees from every field of service offered by the not-for-profit healthcare organization.Mary Harrison, HBTS Founder, reflected on 1978, when she was one of the Boca Raton residents who recognized the need to make more compassionate care accessible for her neighbors facing the challenges incurred at the end of life. She shared with the crowd her amazement at how “ We have become a model Hospice in the world-wide hospice movement, pioneering new programs and comforting thousands of patients over the last three decades. Each of you should feel good about yourselves and be proud.”
Fred Mortensen, Spiritual Care Counselor was celebrated for his twenty-five years working with the organization. Paula J. Alderson, President and CEO of Hospice by the Sea, said “Fred has been an invaluable part of our mission and his dedication to hospice care has touched countless lives along the way.”
Board directors, senior leaders, employees, past and present mingled over good food and shared their pride in Hospice by the Sea and the accomplishments signified by the organization’s thirty fifth anniversary.
