Dr. Angel Sanchez Artiles was born in Havana, Cuba and grew up in Canada, Germany, and Holland. He has more than 10 years of experience in medicine, with a special interest in cancer pain and symptom management, end-of-life care, bioethics and health disparities. Dr. Sanchez began working with Catholic Palliative Care Services (CPCS) in July of 2021 as a Full Time Palliative Medicine Physician offering services at HCA Florida Mercy Hospital and as Associate Program Director for a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. He finds his palliative work impactful in guiding patients and families through difficult hospitalizations. He is witnessing the growth of palliative services, which has included supporting many goals of care discussions and is finding end of life decisions are thoughtfully being made sooner. His team has also been instrumental in supporting palliative education sessions.
