June 26, 2019 – Hyundai Hope On Wheels® and the South Florida Hyundai Dealers Association presented a $100,000 Hyundai Impact Award Grant to Dr. Brian Cauff and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to help fund pediatric cancer research and programs in South Florida. The Hollywood-based facility is one of only 77 pediatric oncology departments nationally, and the only one in the region, to receive the award.

With the grant, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation will have received $1 million in total lifetime funding from Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels campaign, which began nationally in 1998. The initiative is supported by Hyundai and its U.S. dealers, including those in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, to help kids fight cancer.

South Florida children battling cancer participated in the program’s signature handprint ceremony, dipping their hands in paint and placing their handprints on a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe.Their colorful contribution to the official Hope Vehicle represented their cancer journeys, hopes, and dreams.

Dr. Cauff, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Associate Medical Director for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Services, Memorial Healthcare System CEO Aurelio Fernandez, Caitlin Stella, CEO of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, South Florida Hyundai Dealers Association President Rick Case, and Mike Donahoo, senior manager of merchandising for Hyundai Motor America were among those who spoke at the event.

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital – the largest pediatric facility serving Broward, Palm Beach, and northern Miami-Dade counties – has 226 licensed beds, seven operating rooms, and an entire floor dedicated to pediatric oncology, all in a caring, compassionate setting designed specifically for kids.

South Broward county’s only level one pediatric trauma center, the Memorial Healthcare System facility combines advanced technology, the expertise of some of South Florida’s most diverse,board-certified specialists, and a patient and family-centered focus to heal the body, mind, and spirit of those it touches

The nonprofit Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation provides philanthropic funding to support the children’s hospital’s mission.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to finding a cure for childhood cancer.
