The Florida Medical Association (FMA) recently installed Orthopedic Surgeon and native Floridian, James B. Dolan, M.D., as its 133rd President.
As an Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Dolan has dedicated his career to helping patients. However, his service has not only been in the operating room. Dr. Dolan has proven himself a servant leader in volunteer organizations such as We Care in the various communities he has practiced in, including Jacksonville, Ocala and the Florida Keys. He has also demonstrated leadership abroad as a Major in the US Army, serving in Operation Desert Storm and later in the Reserves.
Dr. Dolans leadership in organized medicine is second to none. He has served in various board capacities with organizations including the Florida Orthopedic Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Before being elected President of the FMA, Dr. Dolan served as its Vice President, Treasurer, and as the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Council on Legislation. As President of the FMA PAC, he testified before numerous state legislative committees the Florida Congressional Delegation in Washington, DC.
Dr. Dolan is committed to helping physicians practice medicine. His guidance, coupled with his experience of representing Florida physicians, is sure to provide the leadership necessary to help FMA members in todays challenging and changing medical climate.
