The advanced technology plays a pivotal role in the award-winning hospital’s successful treatment of uterine, ovarian, cervical and vulvar cancers, as well as other complicated gynecologic medical issues.

May 18 2021 – Dr. Donna M. Pinelli, Medical Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Jupiter Medical Center’s Anderson Family Cancer Institute and the Frank E. and Mary D. Walsh Robotic Surgery Program at Jupiter Medical Center, performed her 2,000th surgery using the revolutionary da Vinci® Xi Robotic Surgical System.

The da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System provides surgical assistance beyond the capabilities of human hands; increases the surgeon’s view using high-definition 3-D visualization; and is used in a number of areas including gynecologic, thoracic, gastrointestinal, pancreatic, HIPEC, urologic, and general surgeries.

“Employing the most sophisticated technologies in the hands of physician experts is at the forefront of our mission to provide the best possible care for our community,” says Amit Rastogi, MD, MHCM, CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “Dr. Pinelli’s 2,000th da Vinci® robotic surgery is an indicating milestone of Jupiter Medical Center bringing the most advanced technologies and innovative procedures to our patients.”

Board certified and fellowshipped trained, Dr. Pinelli’s clinical expertise includes specializing in radical pelvic surgery for treating uterine, ovarian, cervical and vulvar malignancies; risk-reducing surgeries; and other innovative approaches to treating gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Pinelli’s role is a critical part of the comprehensive care provided by the team of multidisciplinary experts at the Anderson Family Cancer Institute at Jupiter Medical Center. Our multidisciplinary team includes surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, pathologists, nurses, therapists and allied health professionals with specialized training in cancer care who are committed to providing cancer care of the highest quality.

The Walsh Robotic Surgery Program recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary with the addition of a third Xi robotic surgery system with the latest fourth generation technology. The latest generation system expands upon core da Vinci system features and offers surgeons: the 3D-HD vision system, virtually extending the surgeon’s eyes and hands into the patient; instrument arm architecture providing the surgeon with anatomical access from virtually any position; and smaller, thinner arms with newly designed joints that offer a greater range of motion than ever before.
