LU’s is the only PharmD program in Miami- Dade County and the only 3-year PharmD program in Florida
Miami, FL, February 10, 2023 – The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), has awarded accreditation to Larkin University’s College of Pharmacy PharmD Degree. ACPE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy.
This announcement follows LU’s institutional accreditation in December 2022 by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), the primary regional accrediting agency for 11 southern U.S. states.
Located in Miami Gardens, FL and established in 2013, the university has become a diverse academic community that promotes leadership in the healthcare industry. Larkin University focuses on graduate and professional programs and offers the only PharmD program in Miami- Dade County and the only 3-year PharmD program in the State of Florida. The College of Biomedical Sciences has an exemplary success rate of leading students on their path into health professions.
“The ACPE accreditation standards are developed by peers across the pharmacy profession. To be fully accredited means that we are meeting the standards set by our peers for a program that provides quality education,” said Dr. Ruth E Nemire, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Larkin University.
Students like Frank Galdamez, Student Government Association secretary and second year pharmacy student expressed their excitement at the accreditation news.
“I am so proud that our school achieved accreditation. This opens the door for future pharmacy students looking to graduate from an accredited school. It also opens the door to current students looking for competitive residencies and job opportunities at the government level. I’m happy to be part of this historical moment and I can’t wait to see what the future holds,” said Galdamez.
