Health Foundation of South Florida recently honored six individuals for efforts to enhance the health and well being of our community at the sixth annual Concern Awards luncheon. Janvier Gasana, M.D., and Peggy Sapp received the top honors as the 2007 Concern Award winners. They each received a $25,000 grant for their nonprofit organizations.

Dr. Janvier Gasana formed the Florida Childrens Environmental Health Alliance to promote healthy surroundings that protect children from environmental and occupational health hazards. His efforts enable health care professionals, educational institutions and others to work together to provide services to children at high-risk for lead poisoning.
The large organization Concern Award was given to Informed Families President & CEO Peggy Sapp, who helped to create the agency 25 years ago with a mission of “helping kids grow up safe, healthy and drug-free.” A leader in drug prevention, she formed the Red Ribbon Campaign and other programs to raise awareness in the fight against drugs.
