Memorial Cancer Institute has appointed Dr. Raja Mudad to lead the new Lung Cancer Program.
Dr. Mudad received his Bachelors of Science in Biology in 1985 and his medical degree in 1989 from the American University of Beirut. In the early 90s, Dr. Mudad completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center and later completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology.
In 1995, Dr. Mudad joined the Tulane University faculty as Associate in Medicine in the area of hematology and medical oncology and was later promoted to become an assistant professor, then an associate professor. During his tenure, he was appointed chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in New Orleans, as well as, associate chief of the section of Hematology/Oncology at Tulane Medical School. He also served as the director of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Training program between 2001-2006.
