Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida has named three new executives: Jeff Boyd, PH.D., director of Translational Research and Genomic Medicine; Leonard Kalman, M.D., deputy medical director and chief clinical officer; and Michele Ryder, R.N., chief operating officer/chief nursing officer .

Dr. Boyd was most recently senior vice president for Molecular Medicine, executive director of the Cancer Genome Institute and the Robert C. Young, M.D., Chair in 

Cancer Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he also maintained a research laboratory. Previously, he served as attending biologist anddirector of the Diagnostic Molecular Genetics Laboratory and the Gynecology and Breast Research Laboratory at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
 
Following the completion of his medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City in 1982, Dr. Kalman became a practicing community medical oncologist, and joined the staffs of Baptist Hospital and South Miami Hospital. As the practice grew under his leadership, he eventually served as the Chairman of the Board of Managers of what became Advanced Medical Specialties (AMS).
 
Ryder’s extensive professional background encompasses more than 37 years in both patient care and executive positions. She is a clinical expert in hospital operations and has been responsible for the growth of the renowned neuroscience and surgical programs at Baptist Hospital of Miami, where she began her career 29 years ago in surgery and the post-anesthesia care unit.
