The Miami-Dade County Health Department recently celebrated two very special occasions- the replacement of the existing 1950s one-story building with a state-of-the-art facility and its 65th anniversary party.

Once the project is finalized, the facility will consist of two buildings that will house immunization, family planning, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases and vital records, thus providing a seamless system of care for clients since some receive multiple services.
The area where this facility is to be located is considered the Civic Center Medical Campus. Funding for this project was appropriated by the legislature during the 2006-2007 session.
The Miami-Dade County Health Department has historically served the health needs of this community in many different capacities at this location for 65 years.
