Nursing informatics, and the opportunity it presents to communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom that improve patient outcomes, is what Mandy Crespo is focused on. The co-chair of the Nursing Informatics Focus Group committee has a passion for technology, “bettering EPIC,” and the impact her work can have for those who trust Memorial with their care.

“One example is the auditing we do and the data it provides helping decrease the time it takes to get pain medication to sickle cell patients,” said Crespo, a graduate of Barry University. “Floor audits enable us to share trends, best practices, and educate the nursing staff to improve overall patient care.”

Crespo knew as a teenager in the medical magnet program at Blanche Ely High School that she wanted to be a Memorial nurse. She joined Memorial Hospital West in 2008, working bedside, as a preceptor, and ultimately charge nurse, before becoming clinical manager at Memorial Hospital Miramar seven years ago.
