July 25, 2019 –  Over the last three days, the Southwest Florida community rallied together for a massive blood drive in honor of Fort Myers Police Department Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller, who was killed in the line of duty last July. At the conclusion of the drive, which was held at Lee Memorial Hospital and FMPD headquarters, 327 people lined up to honor the memory of Jobbers-Miller with their lifesaving donations.

The blood drive came at the request of the Jobbers-Miller family, who wanted to honor their loved one’s memory in a way that made lasting impact for the community he served. The drive kicked-off on Monday with a ceremonial flag raising followed by emotional remarks from the Jobbers-Miller family and leaders from FMPD and Lee Health.

“Thank you to the Jobbers-Miller family for taking the initiative to honor Adam in such a meaningful way. He was a hero who bravely served our community, and we were honored a year ago to care for him and his family in his time of need, just as we were honored to remember him this week as hundreds showed up to make donations that will save lives here in Lee County,” Dr. Scott Wolf, vice president of operations and chief physician executive at Lee Memorial Hospital said.
“The success of the blood drive in Officer Jobbers-Miller’s name is a reflection on a great partnership between Lee Health and the FMPD.  Our department wants to thank all who donated and we are deeply touched by the emotion and support shown by our community and fellow first responders,” Lieutenant Roger Valdivia, Fort Myers Police Department said.

Every drop of blood collected by Lee Health remains in Lee County to save lives in our community. Blood centers are open five days a week. For more information on becoming a blood donor, please call 239-343-2333 or visit: http://www.leehealth.org/bloodcenter/.
